Takeout & Take Me Home Adoption Campaign

Houston PetSet launched its foster animal adoption initiative, “Takeout & Take Me Home,” to promote rescue and shelter pets on the takeout bags of local restaurants. The 501c3, dedicated to ending the suffering and homelessness of companion animals in the Greater Houston area, hopes the campaign will result in the pets’ adoptions, which ultimately helps to free up the shelter and rescue foster systems.

Currently, Houston PetSet has secured partnerships with the following restaurants:

“Houston PetSet is thrilled to team up with these local restaurants and animal welfare groups to encourage rescue pet adoptions,” said Tena Lundquist Faust, Co-President of Houston PetSet. “Unfortunately, the economic impact of COVID-19 will leave many more animals on the streets to suffer, and we need to do what we can now to free up the foster system so we are prepared to take in new animals.”

Pets available for adoption each have their own “takeout” card affixed to the carryout bag or box featuring their picture, age, weight, breed, name, a brief bio and how to go about adopting the animal. The nonprofit will continue the program throughout the duration of the COVID-19 stay-home, work-safe order.

Houston PetSet aims to expand the campaign to additional area restaurants in order to maximize the number of pets adopted. If you are interested in joining the Takeout & Take Me Home effort, please email marketing@houstonpetset.org. For more information, visit houstonpetset.org or call 713-960-6622.
