On “Rescue Feature Friday” we highlight one of our amazing partners so that you can learn more about the nonprofits that work so hard every day to end animal homelessness and suffering.

Today, we’re excited to feature Special Pals! With funding from our grant, they were able to cover the cost of vetting for the animals entering the Special Pals program, including spay/neuters, vaccinations, and emergency medical care, as needed.

Keep reading on to learn about the work they do #ForTheAnimals!

Our mission is to save as many animal lives in Houston as possible in cooperation with local rescue organizations.

> When was your organization established?

1979

> How did you become involved in your organization and what is your current role?

Becky French, Executive Director. I was contacted by a previous board member about this position being available last year and I wanted to be a part of this organization with their goals and direction it is headed.

> Do you work with your organization as a paid or volunteer, full-time or part-time member?

Full-time staff member.

> What keeps you motivated to continue your work?

The need for help for animals is so high in Houston and I want to help the helpless.

> What are you most proud of accomplishing?

I am most proud of the growth in this organization this year. We have reached 1000 adoptions so far since January 1 and that is a record for us.

> What is something about your organization that the average person might not know?

That we are here! Many people have forgotten this organization was still here and trying to help how we can.

> Describe your vision for the future of animal welfare in the Greater Houston area.

The vision for the future of animal welfare in Greater Houston is education and spay and neuter. Without these two pieces becoming stronger in this area the animals will continue to reproduce and suffer.
