Our new “Rescue Feature Friday” series highlights one of our amazing partners so that you can learn more about the nonprofits that work so hard every day to end animal homelessness and suffering.
 
Today, we’re excited to highlight Lola’s Lucky Day! With funding from our grant, they are able to help fund their transport program which delivers more than 1,200 pets a year to their new, forever homes in Wisconsin.

> What is the mission of Lola’s Lucky Day?
To reduce the amount of unwanted animals in the greater Houston area; advocate spay and neuter of animals, taking care of pets. We rescue and vet animals here and then transport them to our rescue partners primarily in Wisconsin where they are adopted.
 
> When was your organization established?
2015
 
> How did you become involved in your organization and what is your current role?
Larissa Gavin, Founder, and President.
 
> Do you work with your organization as a paid or volunteer, full-time or part-time member?
Full-time volunteer
 
> What keeps you motivated to continue your work?
The problem and the animals that need my help.
 

> What are you most proud of accomplishing?
The animals’ lives we have helped (over 7,000).
 
> What is something about your organization that the average person might not know?
We spend over $25k a month to run our rescue – it’s extremely stressful.
 
 
 
> Describe your vision for the future of animal welfare in Greater Houston.
I really hope it is one day like other states like Wisconsin, where I am from, or Colorado or other areas where animals are just treated differently.
