As we are underway with the 87th Texas Legislative Session, Houston PetSet would like to provide an educational space for our supporters and grantees to learn more about advocating on behalf of our companion animals.
For the past three Legislative sessions, the Texas Humane Legislation Network (THLN) and its partners, including Houston PetSet, have worked with animal-friendly elected officials to elevate the status of companion animals. Recently, Representative Collier partnered with THLN to file House Bill 873, the “Safe Outdoor Dogs” bill. This bill would improve the quality of life for dogs and formalize the basic standard of care in which dogs can be housed and restrained while outside.
